Husband flees as wife welcomes triplets
Ukamaka, a 35-year-old wife has been allegedly
abandoned by her husband Mr. Nwiziogo Nkwegu of Obegu Village in the Ozibo
Local Government Area of Ebonyi State after she gave birth to a set of
triplets.
It was gathered that Ukamaka, who was
Nkwegu’s third wife, gave birth to the triplets – two boys and a girl – at a
traditional maternity home in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, three weeks
ago.
Southern City News reported
that the woman was forced to approach the traditional maternity home as opposed
to going to the hospital as a result of her husband’s complaint that he had no
money.
Ukamaka
now a mother of six, having given birth to a set of twins and another single child
before the triplets does menial jobs to support herself and her children.
However, since she was delivered
of the triplets three weeks ago, the mother had been begging for assistance
from well-meaning Nigerians as her husband had disappeared from home and
refused to pick her telephone calls.
Assistance, however, visited the woman
after a former lawmaker representing Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency of
Ebonyi State at the House of Representatives, Chief Peter Edeh, donated an
undisclosed sum of money to her.
The cash donation was made to the woman
on behalf of Edet by his personal assistance, Peter Nwali.
The ex-lawmaker urged the woman to go for
family planning, while appealing to the runaway husband to return home and join
hands to take care of the triplets.
