You extorted my client, took away cars, watches, phones – Evans’ Lawyer accuses Police

According to PUNCH, Mr. Olukoya Ogungbeje, counsel to the alleged billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a. Evans, has petitioned the Police Service Commission, calling for the probe of the policemen who handled the case of his client. Ogungbeje, in a petition dated October 13, 2017, alleged that members of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, which handled the case, abused their position to extort his client. According to him, the team of police investigators led by Mr. Abba Kyari, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, “forcefully and corruptly extorted” from Evans cash in local and foreign currency as well as various items including phones, wrist watches, jewellery, television, cars and trucks. Ogungbeje claimed that the policemen forcefully took N50m from Evans, while his wife was also forced to part with another N5m. Gov. Rochas Okorocha unveils Giant monument Of Jacob Zuma in Owerri, causes people talking.

A lot of dusts have been raised as the Imo state governor Rochas Okorocha yesterday unveiled a giant statue of South Africa President Jacob Zuma in Owerri Imo state. Zuma is on a two-day visit to Owerri, Imo State, South East Nigeria. During the visit, he was conferred a traditional chieftaincy title by the state governor, a road was named after him and then, a statue of him unveiled in Owerri city. The Governor also conferred on President Zuma, the Imo Merit Award, which is the highest award in the State that is conferred only on distinguished personalities who have made a difference in the development of their communities and to humanity. This has triggered fierce reactions from Imo state indigenes, Nigerians who took to social media to vent their disappointment and anger as they ask what the President has contributed to the state to deserve such distinguished honours. NYSC releases mobilization time-table for 2017 Batch B

Prospective corps members are gladdened as The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has released the mobilization time-table for 2017 Batch B prospective corps members. According to the management, online registration for both foreign and locally trained Nigerian graduates will begin on October 23 and end on November 12 while they can start printing their call up letters from November 13 to 17 2017.

Even as Emeka Ike’s marriage to his ex wife, Suzanne, was dissolved by the court not too long ago, Emeka said it was a “judicial magomago”, as he didn’t sign any document and neither he nor his lawyer was in court. Emeka said he would only sign the necessary documents if his estranged wife would debunk the stories of domestic violence against her.  “The court dissolved my marriage illegally; I want people to get it right. For you to dissolve a marriage, the man and his lawyer must be present in court to sign some documents. Ask them, was either my lawyer or myself present in court on that day? In Port-Harcourt, Man Kills Monkeys Uses Them To Prepare delicious Pepper Soup.

Notwithstanding the unexpected anxiety which the Monkey Pox virus has instilled in Nigerian especially in the affected regions such as Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states, a Port-Harcourt based man identified as Vure Kingsley, seems not to be moved as he killed and cooked some monkeys which he used in preparing pepper soup. According to him, the meal was eaten with a local herbal concoction known as Monkey tail.
