Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, The Special Adviser to the President on Prosecution maintained the United States’ statement that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is not a terrorist group is inconsequential. After the Federal High Court, Abuja had declared the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) a terrorist group, the United States however, has said it does not see IPOB as a terrorist organization. In a statement released late on Sunday, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla insisted that IPOB’s activities certified it as a terrorist group as defined by the provisions of the Terrorism (Prevention) Act 2013. Obono-Obla said that IPOB through its advocacy and mode of operation, terrorized and or harassed or “those who do not subscribe it to its separatists ideology and ethnic bigotry before its proscription”. He added, “So it is a terrorist organisation! This is also an organisation that was hounding and killing Nigerians in Rivers and Abia States before the military intervention! ...

Another terrorist organisation has been identified in Nigeria after the trending IPOB terrorist saga by the Federal Government. ASUU- The Academic Staff Union of Universities has branded the University of Ilorin a terrorist organisation after the institution reportedly sacked the ASUU chairman in the school, Dr. Kayode Afolayan, for allegedly exposing corrupt practices of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali.
